Nothing is more important for your skin than having a solid nighttime routine to achieve a glowing complexion. Today, I’m sharing my evening skincare essentials that I can’t live without, including my favorite physical exfoliator!
With skincare, it is a good idea to use your intuition to determine what your skin needs at a given moment. This is very often the case with my nighttime routine. I developed two similar routines that I will alternate between depending on how my skin looks and feels. In this blog, I will be examining a nighttime routine built around a physical exfoliator, designed to promote a glowing complexion. If you find that chemical exfoliators are more your preference, I have published a slightly different routine regarding my favorite one: Evening Skincare Routine (Chemical Exfoliator).
Cleanser
There are times when I feel that my skin specifically needs a physical exfoliator, and that’s when I’ll reach for the Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser. I keep it in my shower and use it no more than twice a week. The granules are micro-polishing beads that work quite gently on the skin. This product doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin or induce redness, unlike several other physical exfoliants. It’s a crucial step for achieving a glowing complexion.
Toner
What can I say? Paula’s Choice Pore-Reducing Toner is the only toner I’m using right now, day and night. I love this product mainly because it contains one of my favorite skincare ingredients, niacinamide, renowned for controlling sebum production, texture on the skin, redness, and pore size. It’s a vital part of my routine for maintaining a glowing complexion.
Serum
After much deliberation, I caved and purchased the Krave Great Barrier Relief. Because my skin is so oily and sensitive, I will try to avoid the layering of excess product, particularly in the warmer months. This means that, though this is a serum, I often stop after this step and leave out a moisturizer. This product is lightweight and goes on without leaving a residue behind. When I wake up the next morning, my skin feels nourished and plump, and looks significantly less red. My only mentionable quarrel is that the smell is a bit strong and unpleasant to me personally. I believe this could be due to the 10% tamanu oil included, giving it that nutty, earthy smell.
As always, I’ll use my intuition and swap out products depending on what I feel my skin needs, but this is the routine that I generally follow. I try my best to keep the product layering to a minimum, as my skin leans more toward being oily, acne-prone, and sensitive. Tell me some of your favorite lightweight moisturizers for the evening in the comments!
As always, thank you for reading!
